AGS Annual meeting Workshop Proposal ~Think of the International Negotiations Difficulty about the Climate Change ~  Abstract of workshop We work out the “Negotiation game” which is the roll-playing. This game is set in the several virtual nations as an actors(rolls), the negotiation issues to be an agreement and nation’s information for each actor, which is used as a base of tactic. We make some groups for this game. And after playing the game, we take the time for discuss to roll back the game so that shared awareness is built by the participants.  Outline of workshop - Ice Breaking - Presentation - Roll-playing –Negotiation game - Discussion for output  Aim Understanding and experience for the diversity of countries position, difficulty of negotiation and international negotiation about climate change. And to build the shared awareness through the discussion related this experience.  Measure of “Negotiation game” Each participant is given out the virtual nation roll and its information data. The agenda which is desired to reach an agreement is also given. Each person play the roll at the dictation of each information data. But the tactic is build by each person using this information data. This data might be a nation’s situation about economy, policy for environment, how to consider about the international reputation, and so on, or the scoring among options which can be derived from agenda, for example. Each person has to try to maximize national gain at the same time to reach the agreement. Therefore each nation insistent the opinion and gain his/her point by compromise on the other matter. This kind of maneuver makes the sense of the game.  Topic and agenda of “Negotiation game” To play the game described above, we chose the climate change issues as a topic. When we think about the sustainability, there is thinking from a point of view of climate change issues also. And climate change issues contain the various cross-section themes in various agendas. In the game, we can’t reconstruction of the real scene of negotiation. For this reason, we construct the virtual agenda based a practice aspect. And to being the negotiation, the agenda is might specify so that their opinions are made explicit. Therefore we put the agenda like that: the players approach the negotiations with a desire to reach the agreement for doing the project which reduce the greenhouse gas, but each desire condition of this project are different. Hence we make multi conditions ready so that they see the several main types of condition. With these classifiable conditions, they try to find the solution by compromising and insisting for each condition. The solution is the detected common acceptable conditions in this negotiation. More clarify agenda will be elaborate right now.  Output Not only the experience of this kind of the negotiation, but also the discussion after that roll-playing negotiation is the important part. Through this discussion, we hope to find and understand the diversity thinking and that the interest level about climate change will increase.  The way of contact with other countries partners We would like to collaborate our workshop included with other countries partners. As we scheduled to try our test production of negotiation game in the middle of February, after that we start to contact by Internet in full swing. We explain our planning and call for the idea to add.
