"You like massage? Five thousand yen."
The woman of Asian extraction, speaking in broken Japanese, approached the reporter for Asahi Geino (12/20) in a dingy back alleyway of the bar district adjacent to Tokyo's JR Shimbashi station.
She was heavily made up, but no beauty by any means.
He nodded his assent, and she led him to the basement of a run-down building, where he saw several empty cubicles containing massage tables.
The woman removed her coat and he got a better look at her.
Her round face and narrow eyes bore a resemblance to sumo grand champion Asashoryu.
"Where are you from?" he asks.
"Mongolia," she replied.

But no sooner did he take a seat and sip from a glass of cheap whiskey than the magic words are whispered in his ear.
"Fera (fellatio), 10,000 yen, 'etchi' 30,000 yen."
The girl pulled him along, taking him right back to the same basement where he had his run-in with the Mongolian gal.
By then, her price for oral was back up to 20,000 yen.
"Well, in that case, I'd rather go all the way," say the reporter.
"Well, I can't have sex with you."
"Why not? Isn't that what the other gal offered?"
"Here, see for yourself."
And the "lady" pulled down her jeans and under shorts to reveal what was unmistakably a penis.
By this time it was after midnight, and the reporter wandered past the plaza with the old steam locomotive in front of Shimbashi Station and turned down a street off Renga Dori road, where he was soon propositioned by another Asian female.
This time she turned out to be an attractive young Chinese lady from Dalien who resembled the late popular singer Teresa Teng.
The place to which she guided him was quite well kept, and after paying 5,000 yen, the reporter took a shower and emerged with a towel wrapped around his waist.
The woman wore a tight skirt and blouse, and dispensed a massage, with no monkeyshines at all.
But then at last came the proposition ...
"You want to do it? It's 30,000 yen a pop, or 50,000 for the whole night."
After his two previous swings and near misses, the reporter was ready for action and soon he was writhing with ecstasy as the gal provided professional lip service.
Suddenly she pulled back, and he thought she was about to fit him with a condom.
But instead, an older woman endowed with a beer-barrel figure, slipped in and prepared to engage in coitus.
"Hey, what's going on here?" the reporter asks.
It turned out that the younger woman's job was to entice him to spring for the full course, but did not include her as the piece de resistance.
"Well if that's the deal, then just give me back my money and I'll leave."
After some angry negotiations with the boss, another, not unattractive woman was led in as a substitute, and resumed the oral sex, bringing the reporter to orgasm.
"Do you wanna hump me too?" she asked.
"No, that was enough," he declines, irritably.
"Okay then, I'm leaving. I gotta get back and finish washing the dishes."
It turned out she was working as a dish washer in a nearby Chinese restaurant and supplementing her income by hooking on the side.

These kinds of rip-offs by Asian women in Japan illegally, Asahi Geino reports, have soared in Shimbashi over the past several months.
They appear to be targeting male office workers from the nearby Shiodome complex.
"At their peak, there were about 80 or so of them working the streets, day and night," a knowledgeable source tells the magazine.
"Stores complained they were scaring off shoppers and finally the police stepped in."
With the winter bonus season now in full swing, they're back.
