They admitted inventing its kinky features, or rather deliberately mistranslating them from the original gossip magazine. |
In fact, this is far from the general Japanese' behavior or sense of worth. |

Shukan Asahi 2/14
By now, readers of this page must have added the word, joshikosei(female senior high-school students),to their vocabulary.
In the last two years, Japanese magazines carried as many as 200 articles on joshikosei and the teenage girl's popularity with magazine editors shows no signs of decline.
In the eye of critical observers, things are getting worse.
They say radical stories with headlines like "enjo kosai(having a sugar daddy) is like living in a paradise" and "joshikosei are casually taking amphetamines to increase sexual pleasure and lose weight" have increased in number.
Brown-haired teen-age girls wearing school uniforms and loose socks have become a common sight on TV as well.
We find them not only in documentary and news programs but also in such game shows as "Maketara Akan!" (Don't Allow Yourself To Lose!),where girls compete by trying to shed uniforms and put on street clothes quickly without exposing themselves too much.
The incredibly large number of joshikosei making media appearances makes Shukan Asahi wonder where they all come from.
The magazine's staff writer,Keiko Hamada, meets Takako-chan,a "joshikosei promoter" who is behind many of the articles and TV shows.
According to Shukan Asahi,Takako-chan is a senior at a prestigious private senior high school in Tokyo.
Her short skirt,died-brown hair and loose socks make her a perfect target for shady joshikosei scouts who ply Shibuya's Sentaagai Mall, but Takako-chan is their formidable competitor in disguise.
She makes more than 100,000yen a month by calling her friends and introducing them to editors and producers.
Takako-chan began to work as a joshikosei promoter about a year ago when an editor first asked her to appear in a magazine and then to introduce her friends.
Making use of her thick telephone book,Takako-chan has since taken care of all kinds of introduction requests.
She tells the reporter that work used to be easy, but nowadays editors and producers are asking difficult--- if not impossible--tasks,like finding a joshikosei who can eat 100 bagfuls of potato chips or introduce a girl who doesn't mind skatebording in a bikini.
According to Shukan Asahi,Takako-chan did not build up her extensive network of friends and acquaintances with the introduction business in mind.
She used to be an avid fan of a rock band called "Kinniku Shojotai" and her networking started when she handed out her name cards to like-minded girls at the band's concerts in a bid to exchange gossip and information.
These days, Takako-chan is fully aware of the commercial value of her friends and she continues to increase contacts by going to places where joshikosei hang out.
Takako-chan tells Shukan Asahi that she has an advantage over others trying to scout joshikosei because she is a high-school student herself.
Takako-chan is a true professional who takes pride in her ability to introduce all types of joshikosei.
Her minimal fee for an introduction is 8,000 yen.
She takes 3,000 yen,in the name of a "coordination fee," and hands 5,000 yen to the girl.
When a client wants a joshikosei who is willing to recount her prostitution experience,Takako-chan usually asks for at least 10,000 yen in payment for the girl and 3,000 to 5,000 yen for herself.
The agent informs Shukan Asahi that girls consider television and magazine appearances a good-paying variety of part-time work.
Knowing this, Takako-chan is extra careful not to undersell, but sneaky old men spoil her effort from time to time.
Blasts Takako-chan:"There are people who refuse to pay me the amount they agreed on or others who pocket a portion of payment behind my back.
Those people really make me angry.
They think I'm an ignorant joshikosei they can take advantage of."(TI)
